Privacy notice

This is a plain-language starting draft, not reviewed legal advice. It's written to be accurate about exactly what this website does today, but it hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer and shouldn't be treated as a substitute for one — particularly the Grievance Officer details below, which need to be filled in by the site operator before this is relied on for actual compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act").

What this covers

This notice is about sarvak.dev, the website — not the Sarvak desktop application. The desktop app you download and run has no telemetry, no analytics, no account, and makes no network calls of its own; nothing described here applies to it. This notice only covers what happens when you visit this website or click a download link on it.

What we collect, and why

This site keeps two things, both in aggregate:

  • A total visit count and a total download count. These are plain numbers — "the download button was clicked" or "the page was loaded" — with no identifier attached. They can't be traced back to you, and collecting them doesn't require your consent because no personal data is involved.
  • A unique-visitor count, but only if you accept the cookie banner. If you click "Accept" (or turn it on under "Customize"), your browser generates a random id — not derived from your name, email, IP address, or anything else — and stores it locally so that a repeat visit isn't counted as a new unique visitor. If you click "Reject," this id is never created, and your visits still count toward the plain total above, just not toward the unique count.

What we don't do

  • No advertising, ad networks, or ad-tracking pixels.
  • No third-party analytics services (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, etc.) — the counting described above happens entirely on our own server.
  • No selling, renting, or sharing of any data with anyone.
  • No profiling, no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting.
  • No account, no login, no email collection through this site.

Retention

The random visitor id (if you accepted analytics) expires automatically after about 400 days — the same maximum lifetime major browsers already enforce on cookies — after which a return visit is simply counted as a new unique visit rather than being tied to any long-term record. The aggregate totals (visits, unique visitors, downloads) are kept indefinitely, since they're just numbers and contain nothing that identifies anyone.

Your choices

You can change your cookie preference at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer, which reopens the same Accept / Reject / Customize choice. Rejecting (or clearing your browser's local storage) removes your stored id going forward.
